Is SettleUp free?

Yes. There is no paywall, no paid tier, and no ads. Every feature on this page is available to everyone.

Do my friends need an account?

No. Add anyone to a group by name and log expenses for them. Only the person keeping the books needs to sign in. Send an invite link to anyone who wants to see the group and add expenses themselves.

How do people join my group?

Add a member by name in the group, then generate an invite link for them. Opening the link and signing in claims that member's spot. Each link works once.

Does SettleUp send or receive money?

No. It tracks expenses and suggests who should pay whom. You settle up however your group already pays each other.

Can one group use more than one currency?

Yes. Each group has a default currency and a list of supported currencies. Expenses in another currency are converted with cached exchange rates.

Where is my data stored?

Groups and expenses are stored in SettleUp's database, hosted by Latent Byte. Only members of a group can see it. SettleUp never asks for bank or card details.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Any group member can export the group's expenses as CSV, JSON, YAML, or an Excel-compatible file.
